Newport, RI -- Local planner, cartographer and GIS consultant Mary F. Hutchinson was awarded First Place for the "GIS-Resource Analysis of the Aquidneck Island West Side Master Plan: Preferred Preservation Mapping Project." Her poster was selected based on its' originality, effective use of GIS, effective communication, visual appeal, design/layout, legibility and accuracy. Hutchinson also received an Honorable Mention for Cartographic Excellence for the "Welcome to Newport Harbor Map" prepared for the Newport Harbor Guide and published by the Seaman's Church Institute of Newport.
