MPS
has been assisting the Town of Jamestown in
a multi-year GIS implementation project, primarily
through the Planning Department.
In
1999, MPS automated parcel maps in the Jamestown
Shores area
to
support the Town’s Wastewater Management
Plan and as a demonstration project for the
capabilities of GIS parcel mapping.
The following year,
MPS was selected by the Town to prepare all
mapping for the Jamestown Comprehensive Community
Plan 2002
(see
www.jamestownri.com).
This involved automating several data sources,
updating existing sewer and water datasets,
designing, developing and implementing a low-cost
ArcView-based GIS system
for
the Planning Department and conducting GIS training.
In
2003 MPS was engaged to prepare the Town’s
Official Zoning Map in a variety of digital
and hardcopy formats, as well GIS analyses in
support of the Town Highway Barn Siting and
the Village Parking Study.
MPS presently provides as-needed
general GIS consulting, including hardware and
software support, data development and limited
maintenance, spatial analyses and GIS mapping
support for several municipal departments.
In
2004/2005 the Town plans to develop town-wide
GIS parcel mapping and implement an ArcGIS system
for harbor management and mooring enforcement
purposes.
