Ms
Hutchinson directs all aspects of GIS project management,
consulting, geospatial analyses, training and technical
support. She has 30 years of professional experience
in the GIS, planning and mapping industries, both
in the United States and Australia. She is certified
as a GIS Professional (GISP)
and Mentor for students and young
professionals by the GIS
Certification Institute.
Hutchinson
earned the Masters in Community Planning (MCP) from
the University of Rhode Island and received the American
Institute of Certified Planner’s (AICP) Outstanding
Student Award. Undergraduate studies were completed
at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Victoria,
Australia where she earned the Bachelor Applied Science
(Cartography).
Mary
Hutchinson is a member of the RIGIS
Executive Committee,
American Planning Association (APA), North
East ARC Users Group (NEARC), Mapping Sciences
Institute of Australia (MSIA) and former director of New
England Chapter of URISA.
As
Planner and GIS Professional, Mary Hutchinson has
been an active supporter of open space preservation
efforts in Newport County and Rhode Island; as Past
President of the Conanicut
Island Land Trust (Jamestown), GIS Consultant
and former Director of the Aquidneck
Land Trust, the
Rhode Island Land Trust Council, and Vice-Chairman,
Jamestown Conservation Commission.
Hutchinson's
planning work has received awards from the American
Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and American
Planning Association (APA). As Cartographer, her maps
have been recognized with professional awards and
honored as limited editions.
