MPS, in conjunction with The Conservation Agency prepared the Ballard Park Management Plan for the non-profit organization the Friends of Ballard Park. The Friends organization is dedicated to protecting, preserving and maintaining Ballard Park, a wild and natural open space area owned by the City of Newport.

A detailed, comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of the 13-acre property was compiled using sub-meter GPS ground survey, integration of existing deeds, survey plans, topographic maps, aerial photos and computer mapping. A full-color map of the park showing the trail system and other features was also prepared.  The management plan's goal is to balance the park’s long-term conservation values with short and long-terms recreational, public safety, historic and educational needs.
